William Jefferson Clinton - Early Life and Political Beginnings

William Jefferson Clinton (born August 19, 1946), often referred to as Bill Clinton, is an American politician and lawyer who served as the 42nd president of the United States from 1993 to 2001.

Clinton was born in Hope, Arkansas, and graduated from Georgetown University and Yale Law School. He began his political career in 1976 when he was elected Arkansas Attorney General. In 1978, at age 32, he became the governor of Arkansas, making him the youngest person to hold that office at the time.

Clinton served five terms as governor, implementing progressive policies such as education reform and healthcare initiatives. He gained national attention in 1988 when he delivered a memorable speech at the Democratic National Convention.

The 42nd President of the United States

In 1992, Clinton ran for president on a platform of economic recovery and social justice. He defeated incumbent President George H.W. Bush in a close election.

During his presidency, Clinton presided over the longest peacetime economic expansion in American history. He implemented policies such as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Earned Income Tax Credit.
