Dominant Performance in 15-5 Victory

Notre Dame Fighting Irish Capture Second Title in Program History

Charlotte, NC - Notre Dame Fighting Irish men's lacrosse team claimed the 2024 NCAA Division I National Championship on Saturday, defeating their opponents 15-5 in a dominant performance at the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) tournament in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Fighting Irish, who entered the tournament as the top seed, controlled the game from start to finish, taking an early lead and never looking back. Notre Dame's offense was unstoppable, led by sophomore attackman Pat Kavanagh, who scored four goals and added two assists. Senior midfielder Jake Taylor and junior attackman Griffin Westlin each added three goals for the Irish.

Notre Dame's defense was equally impressive, holding their opponents to just five goals on 32 shots. Senior goalkeeper Liam Entenmann made 12 saves to earn the victory. The Irish also won the ground ball battle, collecting 35 ground balls to their opponents' 22.

This marks Notre Dame's second NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship in program history, their first since 2014. The Fighting Irish, who have now won 12 ACC Tournament titles, are one of the most successful men's lacrosse programs in the country.

The 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship bracket was finalized on Saturday after a pair of semifinals matchups. Notre Dame defeated the Maryland Terrapins 12-10 in the first semifinal, while the Duke Blue Devils upset the top-seeded Virginia Cavaliers 11-10 in the second semifinal.
